The Zekon Hegemony

The Shattered Dominion

The Zekon Hegemony can simply be described as an assortment of fiercely competitive clans united only by the rule of the strongest, with the exact details of their origins and culture unknown to humanity, as most information comes from leaked Coalition data, of salvaged fragments of the Mirnerian’s archives following the CDI's invasion of the Crimson Sector.

These records document the Mirnerians' first encounters with the Zekon, describing them as a fractured society where fear and strength serve as the primary tools for governance, where Zekon Hegemony is ruled by the strongest, with power maintained through brute force and the suppression of smaller clans.

However, a notable shift has been observed in most recent data. Reports suggest that some clans have begun to favor cunning diplomacy over brute strength, signaling a potential evolution in their societal structure.

Initial Contact

Initial contact with the Zekon had mistakenly identified them as mere pirates or raiders until the devastating invasion, which has simply been described as a “Bloodlust Crusade”, with a devastating invasion by the NI-arwa-kar clan. Forcing Mirnerian Forces into defensive positions, with any notion of a counterattack deemed as “absolute suicide”. The only saving grace of the Mirnerian Kingdom being its advancements in the field of high-velocity plasma weaponry, the kingdoms primary weapons systems for both fleet and anti-orbital weaponry capable of piercing the armor of the Zekons heavy and titanic units, allowing them to hold heavily fortified location, and retain a level of naval control over their sectors.

To the Surprise of many, the Zekon’s technological advancements initially had surpassed those of humanity by an estimated 50 years, and a decisive victory against the kingdom would have been achieved if not for the, internal division of the Hegemony and the cultural norms at play, preventing the the Ni-arwa-kar from accepting assistance from any other clans in achieving victory. Additionally their military efforts were handicapped by the necessity of holding back the majority of their forces, preventing a possible shift in power by maintaining dominion over their kin.

The Power Shift

As the war dragged on, the power of the Ni-arwa-kar clan waned. The sudden emergence of the Conterian Illuminate Conclave (CIC) exacerbated their decline, creating a power vacuum within the Hegemony. Rival clans such as the Ynter-kar and Ki-makin capitalized on this instability, with the Ynter-kar aligning with the CIC, while the Ki-makin is said to have played its cards, withdrawing its force’s from key locations, while sabotaging the Ni-arwa-kar’s efforts at holding back the CIC and Mirnerian Kingdom.

The Mirnerians would exploit this chaos, launching a rapid campaign that culminated in the occupation of the Zekon homeworld, KW-23, codenamed “Zerkona.” This occupation would mark the end of the Ni-arwa-kar’s dominion over the Hegemony, with their supporters seeing this as an act of weakness and incompetence after loosing control of the birth world of the Zekon and its holy sites.

This did not stop the Ni-arwa-kar from trying to reclaim their pride ultimately leading to a severe decline in their strength, with Mirnerian forces reportedly, entrenching themselves around the Zekon's holy sites, forcing the Nir-arwa-kar to limit their ordnance to simple small arms in an attempt to minimize damage, resulting in what can only be described as a “slaughtering ground” as wave after wave of “the Nir-arwa-kar were cut down like animals” attempting to storm the Mirnerian entrenchments. Even with these excessive casualties, these suicidal charges would continue, untile the Nir-arwa-kar had witnessed the leveling of multiple holy sites following their reclamation, as a result of pre-placed explosives left by their withdrawing enemies, leaving their sacrifice in vain.

An Uncertain Future

The Zekon Hegemony, once a formidable power, is now a fractured remnant of its former self. As internal strife continues to tear apart the Hegemony, its members vie for dominion over the remains of it’s carcass, further divided by external influences, resulting in the idea of a Zekon state as no longer plausible, for in the end the future of the Zekon will be carved by the strongest of survivors.

Diplomatic Relations

Due to limited intelligence, the true intentions and broader agenda of the Zekon Hegemony remain largely speculative. Available data, derived primarily from their interactions with the Mirnerian Kingdom and the Conterian Illuminate Conclave, suggests a predominantly hostile disposition. Their militaristic nature and rigid societal hierarchy further reinforce this perception.

The following analysis outlines the diplomatic relations between The Zekon Hegemony and other notable powers on the galactic stage.

Key Points of Interest

The Mirnerian Kingdom

Historical records verify that the Zekon Hegemony and the Mirnerian Kingdom were long-standing adversaries, with conflicts spanning decades before the appearance of the Conterian Illuminate Conclave (CIC). Recent external pressures—primarily from the CIC and the Coalition of Sew-Nowtyra (CSN)—have compelled both factions to adopt a more neutral stance. However, this is speculative, with no formal agreements substantiating such claims.

Yet captured Mirnerian records, leaked from the Coalition Defense Initiative (CDI), detail a brutal campaign within the Zekon home sector, codenamed “Wersylia” by the Mirnerians and “Wersoria” by the CSN. In which Mirnerian forces managed to occupy the Zekon homeworld, transforming it into a desolate hellscape with mutilated corpses strung up and displayed amongst the Mirnerian lines. It is noted in Mirnerian battle reports that captured Zekon whether alive or dead were to have their face skinned and mutilated prior to being hung, as tribute to their fallen brothers, It is also noted that none where to be spared, including POWs and civilians, with these atrocities reportedly sanctioned and encouraged by the Lord General in charge of the campaign.

Most recent intel reports, show that the Zekon Homeworld is still under Mirnerian control due to the division between the major clans, which seem to have refrained from helping the Ni-arwa-kar reclaim the homeworld and their power status instead capitalizing on it to take control themselves. These reports also point to the Mirnerian Forces having entrenched themselves at key locations of cultural importance to the Zekon especially the Ni-arwa-kar preventing them from using heavy ordnance to erase the invaders from orbit.

The Coalition of Sew-Nowtyra

Leaked data from the CSN, points to a few hostile incidents between the CDI’s Invading Forces and the Zekon Hegemony, near the Zekons home sector, as the CDI pursued Mirnerian Forces deep into the “Crimson Sector” after the fall of their Kingdom. Although occurrences of these incidents were short lived as the CIC pushed back CDI forces from the Western parts of the ‘Crimson Sector” in turn creating a buffer between the CDI and the Zekon Hegemony.

The Conterian Illuminate Conclave

Extracted records indicate that initial interactions between the Zekon Hegemony and the CIC were hostile. The CIC's emergence significantly contributed to the Mirnerians' successful conquest of southern Wersoria, which further destabilized the Zekon leadership.

The subsequent collapse of the Zekon Hegemony's leading clan of Ni-arwa-kar led to a prolonged internal power struggle. This vacuum of leadership saw a faction within the Zekon Hegemony referred to as the ‘Ynter-kar’ aligning themselves with the CIC. This alignment allowed the Ynter-kar to proclaim themselves as the ruling clan of the hegemony, thereby securing temporary stability. However, reports suggest that internal civil wars continue to plague the Hegemony, leaving their long-term allegiance to the CIC uncertain.

Other Parties

The Zekon Hegemony’s geographical isolation has severely limited their interactions with other major factions beyond the CIC, MK, and CSN. Speculative analysis suggests that their militaristic and xenophobic tendencies would likely result in antagonistic or hostile relations, particularly toward human-centric factions. Unverified reports of the Mirnerian occupation and desecration of the Zekon homeworld further cement their hostility toward outside powers.
